Teenpact promotes itself as a means of getting your homeschool student involved in the political processes through a Christian perspective. But it’s more than that.

I have been bringing my teens here for seven years. each student I brought was for a different reason, and none were for the civics credit. Teenpact offers 1/3 credit for government/civics for those completing the class. It does require homework, has quizzes and tests, and expects major interaction daily.

For the government aspect, the students are assigned committees where they discuss the bills they made at home. This is their working lunch time. If passed, they can discuss their bills in front of the entire group. And, yes, one of my kids voted against his own bill so he would not have to do this!

The kids get a tour of the Capitol from a Christian view. They have daily prayer walks, praying for the Governor, Senators, and all elected leaders.

Alumni have a discussion on a set topic of which they researched before coming. It can be anything from ‘the Christian’s purpose in helping the homeless’ to is our judicial system just’?

Evening sessions are optional, held at a church for a recap of the day and a time of worship.

Teenpact does stress, as in the required reading, that one person CAN make a difference. As an adult, I try to show my kids how I , alone, can make a difference.

The days are long, and the homework is not for the slow in heart. We stay at a hotel and mingle with other likeminded families. It is quite an encouragement to everyone.

It can be pricey to those on a budget. We save all year for our week trip to Jefferson City. It is worth more than money.
