It also expands control over families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0law would levy a year-long prison sentence for truancy, ban all corporal punishment, and require parents to apply to the National Department of Education for\u00a0<em><strong>permission<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0to homeschool their children. Otherwise they will face charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gatewaynews.co.za\/radical-education-bill-threatens-parents-rights\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christian View Network has been warning for years<\/a>&nbsp;that the bill is a radical threat to parental rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estimates put the number of homeschooled children in South Africa as high as 300,000,\u00a0reports the South African Broadcast Corporation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An organization dedicated to protecting parental rights in South Africa,\u00a0The Pestalozzi Trust, has informed the president they will be appealing the Act to the nation\u2019s high court. The Trust argues that \u201cthe Act imposes excessive regulatory burdens on parents who opt for homeschooling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those in the USA need to watch and learn, be pro-active in keeping laws like this from getting close to stopping out homeschooling rights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South African homeschoolers will face jail if kids are not in school.
