Compulsory Education Age? Your Thoughts Wanted
There are 3 bills lowering the compulsory attendance age. They will be heard and testimony will be taken at the House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee meeting on Tuesday morning. Families for Home Education opposes lowering the compulsory attendance age. This would limit a home school parent’s ability and freedom to choose when their child is ready to begin school.
HB 2125, sponsored by Rep. Ian Mackey, changes the compulsory attendance age from 7 years old to 5 years old.
HB 2177, sponsored by Rep. Bruce Sassmann, changes the compulsory attendance age from 7 years old to 6 years old.
HB 2323, sponsored by Rep. Jeff Farnan, changes the compulsory attendance age from 7 years old to 6 years old.
