Who To Follow?
I saw recently on FB a post about whether or not to follow the public school’s schedule as you homeschool your children. There is some thought to that. But keep in mind that you are in charge. When you chose to homeschool your child, you decide the schedule.
Schedules vary as the family or child. Some do Saturdays. Others go three weeks on and a week off. Others skip Mondays. Some switch off days. Most are done by noon. How many in-teacher school days does the public school have? You can have that many.
Then there are the holiday schedules. Some get off during haying season, or deer season. Some take off for birthdays, anniversaries, or other family days. Some work between Christmas and New Years. Others don’t. Some take a spring break. Others consider that time as to be used for educational family trips. And the proverbial snow days and inclement weather days, or sunshine days…
The end result: the parent decides when to take off from school and when to attend. Will studying actually be done in the classroom today? Or should everyone go out for fresh air? The beauty of homeschooling- you are in charge.
